25 Οκτ 2010 · The most common source of this problem is a file that holds copies of the icons commonly used on your desktop and other places called IconCache.db. It has likely suffered a minor corruption and needs to be rebuilt.
My Windows Vista Desktop icon are all gone and I cant set them again! Is there any registry key to show them back? I used regsvr32 /u shell32.dll command but still nothing shows? what should I do?

4 Σεπ 2008 · I can right-click on my desktop & in the "view" sub-menu I uncheck then check "Show desktop icons" & my icons re-appear - until I restart Windows again & they disappear again.
14 Ιουν 2009 · Hello, I have a new Asus G50V with vista 64 premium. At least 5 times a day, my desktop icons disappear. Most, but not all, of them are shortcuts. It happens at random times, so I'm not sure what the trigger is. I've read similar threads, but they've left me confused about what to try.
You may have a solid blank space where an icon should be on either the taskbar or the Windows desktop when using Windows Vista or Windows 7. These icons may become corrupted for a variety of reasons, including the installation of third party software.
12 Απρ 2011 · Sounds like Vista is storing the previous icon in the Icon Cache. To fix this, you'll want to force Windows to rebuild the icon cache. To rebuid the icon cache: Make sure you don't have any unsaved work - following these steps will restart your computer to finish the process.
