3 Νοε 2024 · Several efforts to help myself: cleaned/resetted icon cache etc including re-installing Win 10. Problem: With Classic Shell installed, some icons in taskbar get totally lost after rebooting, not even the famous "white square" remains:

13 Νοε 2024 · You can be 100% sure that desktop icons are not affected by the Classic Shell software in any way. There is some other issue with your PC. Contact Microsoft support.
11 Νοε 2024 · Are you talking about the icons on the desktop? Yes I eventually realized (by accident) long after the Windows Update my desktop PC had been set into "tablet mode". Once disabled, the Icons were restored. Hopefully this may save others wasting lots of time trying to figure out what went wrong.
17 Αυγ 2012 · I right-clicked on the item with the missing icon and chose properties. In the properties dialog box I clicked to change the icon. I changed the icon (for example, from the main program icon to the document icon for that program) and pressed OK (I had to have administrator rights to confirm).
13 Οκτ 2015 · • Open the Applications tab and click New Task at the bottom-right of the window. • In the message box that pops up type in explorer.exe and hit OK. Explorer.exe will reload, and the missing icons should now be back in the system-tray where they belong.
19 Μαΐ 2010 · On various days (no pattern), when I start using computer (which is always on), all the icons from my taskbar have disappeared. I found one solution to the problem which is to start task manager, end explorer.exe process, then run explorer.exe again.
