The Construction Inspection Division is responsible for performing inspections on construction activities to ensure that construction projects meet approved plans and comply with building codes and standards.
Annual Inspections are required for vacant property and may occur more often based on complaints. Inspections are made to ensure compliance with the Property Maintenance Code, the Zoning Ordinance, the Michigan Building Code with regard to the safety and security of the buildings.

Building Code Requirements 1. Decks with raised surfaces more than 30 inches above grade require guardrails at the perimeter of deck surfaces. 2.
