These measures are an important part of a clinicians' arsenal of assessment approaches and are critical in the development of patient-centered approaches to intervention.
The Importance of Outcome Measurement. Outcomes are the most important information for patients. Outcomes define success for every physician, health care organization and payer. Outcomes encourage multidisciplinary IPUs and facilitate care improvement. Outcomes highlight and validate value-enhancing cost reduction.
Patient-reported outcome measures have an important role in evaluating services in terms of outcomes that matter to patients. They will continue to play a role as primary or secondary end points in bespoke research trials and evaluative studies in which the patient is recruited to participate as research subject.
