8 Μαρ 2024 · In this study, of the patients with AKI-D who experienced kidney function recovery and were subsequently weaned off kidney replacement therapy, more than one-quarter died, 16.7% developed ESKD, and 11.1% developed incident MACEs after a mean of 1.2 years of follow-up.
In this review, we seek to highlight the varying aspects and stages of recovery from AKI complicating critical illness, and propose viable strategies to promote recovery of kidney function and dialysis independence. We also emphasize the need for ongoing research and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes in this vulnerable population.

We studied a cohort of 111 patients with AKI-D to determine the rate of kidney recovery, time to recovery, and hospitalization-related parameters associated with recovery.
