Part V of the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (Payment of Wages) is intended to ensure that employees receive wages for work performed. This Part regulates the payment, manner and place of payment of wages, deductions from wages, and the priority of wage claims over other unsecured creditors.
Whether a method of payment is “direct deposit” will depend on the circumstances. For payments that are to be made after June 20, 2024, an employee has the right to select the account where their wages are to be deposited.
