Roscoe and DeSoto are the secondary antagonists of Disney's 27th full-length animated feature film Oliver & Company, a modern take on Charles Dickens' classic 1838 novel Oliver Twist. They are a pair of vicious and sadistic Dobermans who are the pets of the New Yorker loan shark Bill Sykes .
Oliver, an orange tabby kitten, is lost in the streets of New York City. He was the only kitten of his fellow kittens not to get adopted, despite their seller reducing the price for Oliver until offering him for free. Left alone in the rain in a cardboard box, he escapes and lives in the streets.
