Driver Education. Successfully completing a certified Driver Education Program course that includes 30 hours of classroom learning and six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel training is a requirement for all new Maryland drivers, regardless of age.
A Non-Commercial Learner’s Permit can be obtained from the Maryland Department of Transportation. This permit is valid for 2 years, has an application cost of $50, and have an approval time of 25 minutes.
