I want to try a haunted one as a background for a character in my second campain. But I think what I have planned might be a bit too grand/unrealistic for a backstory. My idea was a choatic neutral Ranger Lizardfolk (~24 years old) with a dark past, due to his mother and aunt practicing dark arts and teaching it to you and your cousin.

I'm relatively new to the game, and I was hoping you guys could help me build this character idea. I was going through the backgrounds and the haunted one specifically jumped out at me, specifically this: "You opened an eldritch tome and saw things unfit for a sane mind. You burned the book, but its words and images are burned into your psyche."
