The dose–response relationship is a central concept in many biological disciplines, but especially in pharmacology, toxicology and risk assessment. Despite its centrality in the biological sciences, the origins of dose–response concepts and models remain underexplored and underappreciated.
Optimal doses of psychotherapy in routine settings range between 4 and 26 sessions (4-6 for low intensity guided self-help) and vary according to setting, clinical population and outcome measures. Weekly therapy appears to accelerate the rate of improvement compared to less frequent schedules.
A dose–response curve is a coordinate graph relating the magnitude of a dose (stimulus) to the response of a biological system. A number of effects (or endpoints) can be studied. The applied dose is generally plotted on the X axis and the response is plotted on the Y axis.
5 Σεπ 2022 · The biological approach attempts to explain behaviour as the direct product of interactions within the body. Key assumptions of the biological approach. There is a direct correlation between brain activity and cognition; Biochemical imbalances can affect behaviour; Brain physiology can affect behaviour
11 Μαΐ 2006 · To date, few studies have been published on the dose-response relationship, but there is general consensus that between 13 and 18 sessions of therapy are required for 50% of patients to improve. Reviewing the clinical trials literature reveals that in carefully controlled and implemented treatments, between 57.6% and 67.2% of patients improve ...
Assuming that toxicity is minimized or nonexistent in a behavioral intervention, an optimal dose can be defined as either the maximally efficacious dose that is not conditional on patient adherence (intended dose) or the maximally effective (actual or observed) dose that is conditional on adherence.
10 Μαρ 2021 · (1) Everything psychological is at first biological. (2) All behaviour has a physical cause. (3) Biological structure and function are key. (4) Contrasts the cognitive approach view by suggesting that mental processes are not separate from the physical brain. AO1:The Influence of Genes:
