Today I realized you can use VST plug-ins in Pro Tools using Komplete Kontrol by Native Instruments, and my life has changed. Why nobody told me?
Depends on your definition of Non-official. Non-AAX plug-ins wrapped as an AAX might work with varying degrees of success, but attempted cracks of existing AAX plugins will fail. There is copy protection code to prevent this.
If you are looking for some FREE plugins, then here’s the list, they often also work in any DAW that supports AAX, AU and VST, including Pro Tools, Studio One, Logic Pro X and many more.

1 Αυγ 2021 · Any plugin which is registered with a serial number will work with Pro Tools. When a cracked plugin has its binary modified (i.e. the AAX file itself), Pro Tools will identify the mod and render it useless.
