The Dev Team just updated RedSn0w to version 0.9.6b4, which will jailbreak iOS 4.2.1. As we explained yesterday, thanks to a combination of pwnage2 exploit, the arm7_go exploit, 24kpwn, and LimeRa1n, you will get an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3G, older iPhone 3GS, and non-MC iPod touch 2G.
First, you will download redsn0w (if you don't have it), 7-Zip (and install it) and the iTunes 11 installer. You will NOT be installing iTunes, however. Once you have downloaded or installed all three, you will now:

Step 2: Download RedSn0w 0.9.6b4 and the firmware for your device from our downloads section. Step 3: Launch RedSn0w and browse for the firmware you downloaded in step 2.
Yay, ultrasn0w is the fix to the fact that the 4.2.1 firmware blocks you from being able to customize APN settings. All you have to do is to download the app from Cyria and you should be now able to edit the APN settings in the network settings under the general tab!
The problem persisted. After hours time wasted, the solution that worked for me every time (be it the Jailbreak or Just boot tethered options) was: Unplug-disable internet connection. Plug in iPhone, from device manager remove the “Apple Mobile Device driver” (from USB-drivers)
