How to Complete a Texas Title Transfer: Obtain a signed title and completed Application for Texas Title (Form 130-U) from the seller. Obtain a release of lien and/or power of attorney (if applicable).
A title transfer is required in Texas to prove ownership whenever it’s sold or bought. The title transfer process is automatic when buying from dealerships. Private sales require extra steps, which we will cover in this post. Then, share what you’ll need to bring to your local TX DMV to make the car your own.
You may submit this form electronically at www.TxDMV.gov to more quickly mark the motor vehicle record to show the vehicle has been transferred.
