Professor Sir Alimuddin Zumla is professor of infectious diseases and international health at University College London. He is also a consultant infectious diseases at UCLH, honorary consultant at Royal Free Hospital, and holds a UK NIHR senior Investigator award.

Sir Zumla was born in Chipata, Zambia in 1955. He is dually qualified in Medicine (MB.ChB) and Science (PhD). He nearly lost his life to meningitis when he was working as a junior doctor in London in 1982.
