On one of the islands the crew lands on, Eustace finds a dragon's lair and is very greedy for the treasure. He puts on a gold bracelet and falls asleep, and when he wakes up, he has been turned into a dragon.

Eustace Clarence Scrubb is a fictional character in C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia. [1] He appears in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle. In The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, he is accompanied by Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, his cousins.
In Narnia, he is a reluctant traveler, refusing to accept the fact that he’s no longer in his usual world and even asking for the British Consul. He contributes to the Dawn Treader only when forced to, and when left on his own, he attempts to steal scarce water rations.
