28 Αυγ 2018 · Excellent Shelling. This is the best shelling on the east coast. Take the ferry out of Harker's Island and then hop on the beach shuttle once you arrive at the Cape. Plan on going during low tide and staying until high tide begins rolling in with a new array of shells!
20 Οκτ 2023 · For the best shelling opportunities, try to comb the beach early in the morning, at low tide, after a storm, or during times of lower visitation such as the winter months. Visitors are allowed to collect up to five gallons of uninhabited shells per person, per day for non-commercial use.

25 Μαρ 2024 · In most cases it is illegal to take anything from a National Park. However, shelling is different, and each person can take up to two gallons of shells per day for personal use. The only requirement is that the shells be empty and animals such as sea stars and sand dollars be dead.
Visitors come to Cape Lookout National Seashore primarily to take advantage of the recreational opportunities found on the islands of Cape Lookout and Shackleford for sights, sounds, and shelling. Others are drawn to the park because they are interested in lighthouses, wild horses and/or great shelling.
