Latex-based primers are ideal for porous surfaces, while oil and shellac-based primers work well for stain-blocking. Tinted primers improve color coverage. For application, prepare the surface, use the appropriate applicator, apply thin, even coats, allow sufficient drying time, and sand if needed.
