4 Αυγ 2017 · Although early railroads primarily facilitated travel within Ohio, railroad construction in the mid-1850s began to connect Ohio with the rest of the country. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad crossed the Appalachian Mountains, providing easier access to and from the East Coast.

This is an official 1914 railroad map of Ohio, in excellent condition on quality paper, still bound in its original covers with lovely marbled interiors. The map was published by the State of Ohio, prepared by the state’s Commissioners of Public printing, and lithographed by the Columbus Lithograph Co.

6 Ιουν 2023 · The first completed rail line in Ohio was the Mad River and Lake Erie Railroad. Construction began in 1835 in Sandusky and was completed through Tiffin, Kenton, and Springfield by the late 1840s. Not too many years passed before Mansfield and Richland County sought a connection to this busy line.
