While the theory of Mentoring up would benefit from testing and further refinement, including the perspective of the mentor, it is a strong starting point to provide a foundation for a critical professional responsibility in nursing.
Mentors have a key role in the clinical setting, and an effective mentorship programme is pivotal to ensuring successful learning among nursing students (Karacay & Karadag, 2019).
Mentoring in nurse-to-nurse relationship is important for developing the next generation of nurses and for supporting experienced nurses during role transitions across their career.
Studies examining the effectiveness of mentorship interventions with nursing faculty who teach in registered nursing education programs will be included. Mentee, mentor, and nursing education institutional outcomes will be explored.
16 Ιουλ 2023 · Supporting the development of mentor-mentee relationships in nursing education has the potential to create caring environments in our nursing programs that will nurture the careers of the next generation of academic nurse educators, leading to increased job satisfaction and retention.
Continuous improvement and training are critical to acquiring and reinforcing effective mentoring skills. Requiring evaluation and follow up for mentors could result in increased satisfaction for both mentor and mentee and improve retention of new faculty in academia.
