The Electron Shells is the outside part of an atom around the atomic nucleus. They have a box in which energy is stored and when it is opened, it releases everything inside. Electrons can jump from a lower-energy shell to a higher-energy shell when excited by energy such as heat.
Electrons are constantly spinning in those atomic shells and those shells, or orbitals, are specific distances from the nucleus. If you are an electron in the first shell, you are always closer to the nucleus than the electrons in the second shell.
