Moscovium is a synthetic chemical element; it has symbol Mc and atomic number 115. It was first synthesized in 2003 by a joint team of Russian and American scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russia.
Two superheavy elements, elements 113 and 115, were recently synthesized through a collaborative effort between scientists from the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and researchers from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research at the Flerov Laboratory for Nuclear Reactions in Dubna, Russia.
The making of moscovium. Yuri Oganessian relates the story of the formation and decay of a doubly odd moscovium nucleus. Element. 115 was the first superheavy element with an odd atomic number...
6 Νοε 2015 · In total 4 correlated alpha-decay chains following the reaction calcium (Z=20) on americium (Z=95) were observed and attributed to element 115. These findings were later-on confirmed and extended with the isotopes 289-115 and 290-115, the latter solely as daughter of 294-117.
2 Δεκ 2016 · Properties, sources and uses of moscovium, element 115, formerly called ununpentium.
28 Νοε 2018 · A team led by nuclear physicists at the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) has reported the first direct measurements of the mass numbers for the nuclei of two superheavy elements: moscovium, which is element 115, and nihonium, element 113.
30 Νοε 2016 · Elements 113, 115, 117, and 118 are now formally named nihonium (Nh), moscovium (Mc), tennessine (Ts), and oganesson (Og)
