2 Αυγ 2022 · In general, 9.5% (95% CI: 9.0–10.1) of the European adult population had I class obesity, 2.2% (95% CI: 2.0–2.5) had II class, and 0.8% (95% CI: 0.7–1.0) had III class obesity. Overweight (excluding obesity) was more prevalent among men than women (p < 0.001) and obesity among women than men (p < 0.001).
Obesity prevalence was lowest in Italy (7.5%) and France (8.8%) and highest in Greece (19.7%) and Romania (21.1%). Multilevel logistic random-effects analyses showed that prevalence of obesity was related with higher age and lower level of education and socioeconomic status.
