FCPS follows the LIEP (Language Instruction Educational Program) Model to support English Learner students. The LIEP provides schools a framework to amplify the FCPS learning model and to implement the WIDA English Language Development Standards.
NOVA has two programs to help local and international students improve their English language skills -- College ESL and the American Culture and Language Institute (ACLI). College ESL. ACLI ESL. Goals. Earn a degree from NOVA. Transfer to a 4-year university. Improve your academic English.
ESL 1 - English As a Second Language I. Provides intensive instruction at the beginning level. Includes listening comprehension, pronunciation and oral production of basic grammatical structure; reading and vocabulary development; and introduction to the writing process. Variable hours per week. 9-20 credits. ESL 2 - English As a Second Language II
Intensive English Courses. VCU ELP offers three levels of written and spoken English instruction: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Students who complete the program meet the language proficiency requirements of most of VCU's academic degree programs.
