After attempting to set up your printer with the HP Smart app, the setup fails and an error message or code displays. Errors can occur if the HP account cannot be activated, the network connection is not working, or the printer hardware setup is incomplete.

If the test passes, MAC address filtering is not interfering with your wireless connection. If the test fails, change your router settings to add your printer MAC address to the list of allowed devices. To find the MAC address, look on the Wireless Network Test report or print a Printer Information page.
Sign in to your router's configuration page and make sure the printer is not being blocked by Parental controls, IP/MAC address filtering, or a number of devices limitation. If your router has an access control feature to allow device access (a whitelist), add your printer to the list.
