When a retiree becomes eligible for Medicare and enrolls in Medicare Parts A and B, they will need to call ERS to be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and a Part D prescription drug plan. All health plan options are listed below. Some are available only to retirees enrolled in Medicare.
The Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) provides employees, retirees and their families with valuable health coverage that helps them live healthy lives. Most state agency and higher education employees and their families become eligible for health coverage after 60 days of employment.

HealthSelect and The Consumer Directed HealthSelect of Texas plans are offered through ERS (Employees Retirement System). These plans are currently administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the 60 th day of employment.
