Escargot is a new service that makes old versions of MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger work again. What began as a simple server developed by a lone programmer, the project has now grown through leaps and bounds, has a dedicated team, and is now focused on a total revival of the MSN Messenger and Windows Live experience.
Currently it supports MSNP18, sending / receiving messages and nudges, emoticons (Windows Live Messenger styled emoticons!), receiving ink (doodles), receiving display pictures, and more to come in the future. New updates are coming every few days for alpha testers.
19 Νοε 2021 · Right now, Windows Live Messenger 2011 and 2012 are not available through Escargot. Hopefully, though, support for these clients will come in the very near future. Yahoo! Messenger 5.0 and 5.5, as well as versions of MSN Messenger prior to 5.0, use an insecure password encryption method.

Download an Escargot-supported client or any related utilities from here. Clients. The preferred way to go is to download a pre-patched client, but if you're up for challenges or want to customize your installation, then unpatched options are available.
