  3. CASES: At this point I see no need to use anything other than Starline 56-50 Spencer cases. They are readily available and reasonably priced (but not cheap). Cases can be made from 348 Winchester brass or 50-70 Gov't brass with modified rims.

  5. 19 Φεβ 2023 · Both RCBS and Lyman make 56-50 dies. The RCBS dies are what you want for the Taylor's 56-50 cartridge. The Lyman Dies are made from cut down 50-70 Govt. dies and will not properly crimp the brass unless you are using bullets over .515 in diameter.

  6. Starline Brass is the only company offering cases for the .56-50 Spencer. RCBS dies were used to develop.56-50 Spencer loads. There are challenges associated with developing handloads for this cartridge. Foremost is the large caliber and case capacity, combined with relatively low pressures.

  7. 4 Φεβ 2012 · Case length 1.15 in. Overall length 1.5 – 1.70 in (1.57 in works best for me.) Cut the 32 gauge brass to length. I use the same case length as the Starline brass, which by my measure is 1.1 in. There are a number of ways to cut this brass. Some use the small cut off saw from Harbor Freight.
