14 Σεπ 2001 · The miracle at Engine Co. 7, in the shadow of the ruins. NEW YORK CITY (BP)–More than 200 firefighters from the New York Fire Department are missing in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack that leveled the World Trade Center.
Engine 16 and Ladder 7 were both organized in 1865, the former on East 25th Street and the latter on East 28th. Since 1968, the two have resided together in a double firehouse on East 29th. One of the firemen, James, took on the job with a desire to help others and loves the constant change of pace.
2 Φεβ 2024 · Nearly 2,000 police officers from the NYPD, over 200 fire companies from the FDNY, and many additional first responders would respond to the events unfolding at the World Trade Center. Back in the firehouse, firefighter Benetatos and Gédéon heard a loud boom and raced outside.
Hearing the loud roar of an airplane overhead, Pfeifer looked up to see hijacked Flight 11 crashing into the North Tower. Immediately, he sprang into action, becoming the first chief to arrive at the World Trade Center. He responded with members of Engine 7 and Ladder 1 and implemented a command center in the North Tower’s lobby.
This the location of the famous Engine 7, Ladder 1, Battalion 1 of the New York City Fire Department. They were made famous on September 11th, 2001. They were part of a documentary about Antonios (Tony) Benetatos who was a probationary firefighter.
