Excuses for jurors are granted at the discretion of the court and cannot be reviewed or appealed to Congress or any other entity. Each of the 94 federal district courts maintains its own jury procedures and policies regarding excuses from jury service.
11 Αυγ 2024 · To get out of federal jury duty, see if you have a qualifying excuse. Determine if you’re part of an exempt group, including being in the armed forces on active duty, employed by a fire or police department, or a state or federal public officer who works full-time.

Age Requirement: Prospective jurors must be at least 18 years old. Residency: They must have primarily resided in the judicial district for at least one year before completing the qualification questionnaire. Language Proficiency: Jurors must be able to adequately read, write, understand, and speak English.

To be qualified for jury service a person must: Be a United States citizen; Be at least 18 years of age; Reside primarily in the judicial district for one year; Be adequately proficient in English to satisfactorily complete the juror qualification form; Have no disqualifying mental or physical condition;
The court may or may not grant the excuse or may require the juror to report during a different two month term. Persons over 75 years of age; Persons who served as a grand or petit juror within two years of being summoned in federal court;
