7 Ιουν 2021 · Sesamoid injuries of the Hallux consist of a constellation of injuries to the sesamoid complex consisting of fractures, tendonitis, and ligamentous injuries. Diagnosis is suspected with hallux pain that is worse with hyperextension and can be confirmed with MRI studies.
Sesamoiditis is a condition that causes pain in the ball of the foot, at the base of the big toe. The condition is a form of tendinitis and is common among dancers, runners, and professional athletes. The sesamoid bones can also fracture (break) due to an acute injury or repetitive stress (overuse).
Symptoms of a seasmoid fracture include: Pain, especially when moving your big toe; Tenderness in the ball of your foot; Foot pain with movement; Swelling in your midfoot; Diagnosing and Treating Sesamoid Fractures
1 Νοε 2023 · Most patients with a sesamoid fracture describe a deep, achy, or sharp pain in the ball of the foot behind the big toe with every step taken. Pain is often acute and occurs immediately after trauma. In many patients, the pain may lessen when the foot is at rest, but it won’t subside completely.

Fracture. A fracture (break) in a sesamoid bone can be either acute or chronic. An acute fracture is caused by trauma—a direct blow or impact to the bone. An acute sesamoid fracture produces immediate pain and swelling at the site of the break but usually does not affect the entire big toe joint.
