Unless exempt, a recreational saltwater fishing license and a lobster permit are required to harvest spiny lobster; Lobster must be landed in whole condition. Separating the tail from the body is prohibited in state waters.
Transfer Fees: A $2.00 per tag fee will be calculated only on tags available after the reduction. The fee applies to all standard transfers and transfers between immediate family members. There are no transfer fees in the event of death or disability of the tag holder.
Lobster Permit - 1 year. This permit, in addition to a valid saltwater fishing license, authorizes the holder to take, attempt to take, or possess Spiny Lobster (crawfish) for recreational purposes.
Lobster permits must be renewed each year by the last day of the fishing year (April 30) or the permit will be lost and considered abandoned. Lobster vessel owners are allowed 45 days from the effective date on their permit to make any changes concerning trap areas or non-trap fishing designations.
