9 Ιουν 2024 · Before you apply for a non-resident fishing license, you’ll need to meet Florida’s age restrictions. In Florida, you must be at least 16 years old to apply for a fishing license. Additionally, you’ll need to provide valid identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or state ID.
Florida residents and visitors are required to possess a Florida hunting, freshwater fishing or saltwater fishing license when engaged in fishing and hunting activities. A license is required to attempt to take fish. If you cast a line or catch and release, you need a fishing license.

Similarly, if you’re a senior who is a patient at a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital, you might be eligible for a reduced-fee license.
Residents between 16 and 65 and all non-residents over the age of 16 (who aren’t exempt) must have a Florida fishing license 2023. Even those only practicing catch and release still need a fishing license. This requirement applies even on freshwater fishing charters with a captain.
