Army Techniques Publication (ATP) 6-22.1 provides doctrinal guidance for all leaders, military and civilian, responsible for planning, preparing, executing, and assessing counseling actions. Trainers and educators throughout the Army will also use this publication.
ATP 6-22.1 provides a doctrinal framework for providing quality feedback to subordinates through counseling, coaching, or mentoring. ATP 6-22.1 consists of four chapters: • Chapter 1 provides an overview of stages of change, communication skills, and feedback methods.
To comprehend the doctrine contained in this publication, readers should understand the fundamentals of leadership found in ADP 1, ADRP 1, ADP 6-0, ADRP 6-0, ADP 6-22, ADRP 6-22, and FM 6-22. The principal audience for this publication is Army commanders, directors, staff officers, and leaders.
