Frances Elizabeth Caroline Willard (September 28, 1839 – February 17, 1898) was an American educator, temperance reformer, and women's suffragist. Willard became the national president of Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) in 1879 and remained president until her death in 1898.

Depew, then president of the New York Central Railroad, provided a special funeral car to take her body to Chicago. Some 20,000 people, many of whom waited hours in blustering cold winter weather, filed past her bier.

To the dismay of many WCTU members, she was cremated (an unusual practice at the time). She was buried with her mother (who had died in 1892) in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago.
