5 Απρ 2019 · Rail Bike. I built a rail bike based off the Bentley Railbike Plans. The Bentley plans were great and definitely worth the money - they detailed all of the parts and could be printed at full scale as a template for cutting parts.

Got Rails? Build Your Own Rail Bike. Sears catalogs used to feature railroad bikes in the early 1900's. Custom-built rail bikes are still available for well over $1,000, but Richard Bentley offers plans for building your own. He has fine-tuned his design over nearly 50 years of rail riding.

Railbikes (or Draisines) are bikes that can ride on abandoned train tracks. They are great ways to travel without any other vehicles getting in your way, just as long as you make sure the rails you are on are absolutely not in use.
While this no-weld rail bike conversion looks like it would be unsafe at any speed, it does look like a ton of fun (isn't that always the case?). Something like this could make the hidden corridors and seldom used easements instantly accessible to folks crazy enough to ride it.
The easiest machine to propel by far is a ”Draisine”, but not as easy to build as the track bike. We could email you the AutoCAD code for the wheels to get them laser cut by a firm local to you. It is free.
