Pastor Eric began his sermon on January 16, 2022, by explaining that the Christian journey is one of faith. As believers, we walk by faith and not by sight. It is the Lord’s intention that we trust Him and believe His Word before He opens our eyes.
Jesus recognized the faith of all five of these men—the paralytic on the mat and the four men who had carried him. verses 11-12: Jesus told the paralytic to rise, pick up his bed, and go home. Imagine the faith the paralytic needed to to do that. Yet, Jesus told this man what to do, and he obeyed.
20 Μαΐ 2020 · Mark tells us that Jesus was able to see their faith (v.5). After “seeing their faith” Jesus responded by healing the man and forgiving the man of his sins. We are going to spend a couple of sermons on this. Today I want us to focus on the four men and the paralyzed man and the faith that Jesus could see.
1 Οκτ 2002 · We know what some people thought. The Scribes thought Jesus had just spoken blasphemy by taking upon himself the prerogative of Deity, for only God can forgive sin (Mark 2:6-7). However, with Jesus’ Messianic credentials came the ability to discern the thoughts of men’s hearts (Isa. 11:2-3).
The significance of this first incident in 2:1-12 focuses on the forgiveness of sins = the greatest need for all of mankind. That is why the gospel message itself must always take precedence over any form of social humanitarian aid.
