Direct lore in GW2 state that the gods were drawn to Tyria by the Artesian waters in Orr, and we know from that same lore that they brought some humans with them to Orr. They later brought the rest of humanity to Tyria(world) via Cantha for whatever reason, but the gods and humans were in Orr before anywhere else.
Given that you can see the land masses link up from the left side to the right side of the map, the top and bottom of the map link up, as well, like some old video games. That would mean Tyria is a donut. http://kotaku.com/classic-jrpg-worlds-are-actually-donuts-1239882216.
