This manual contains solutions to odd-numbered exercises from the book Functions of Several Vari-ables by Miroslav Lovri ́c, published by Nelson Publishing. Keep in mind that the solutions provided represent one way of answering a question or solving an exercise.
Functions of Several Variables. 1.1 Introduction. A real valued function of n–variables is a function f : D ! R, where the domain D is a subset of Rn. So: for each (x1; x2; : : : ; xn) in D, the value of f is a real number f(x1; x2; : : : ; xn). For example, the volume of a cylinder: V = r2h (i.e. V = F(r; h)) is a function of two variables.
This book begins with the basics of the geometry and topology of Euclidean space and continues with the main topics in the theory of functions of several real variables including limits, continuity, differentiation and integration.
