Tom Jeffords comes across a wounded 14-year-old Apache boy dying from buckshot wounds in his back. The boy first tries to attack him, not believing it possible that a White man would want to help him, but Jeffords gives the boy water and treats his wounds, staying with him until he heals.
Ex-soldier Tom Jeffords saves the life of an Apache boy and starts to wonder if Indians are human, after all; soon, he determines to use this chance to make himself an ambassador. Against all odds, his solitary mission into Cochise's stronghold opens a dialogue.
As the war rages between the American settlers and the Apache, former soldier Tom Jeffords happens upon a young Indian wounded after an attack. Taking upon himself to aid the boy, it's not long before the Apache show up intent on killing Jeffords by way of the war instincts.
