Sawmill and Bethel were both 2 lanes in the late 80s and jammed up often. I remember driving to the 161 Sawmill area around 1987, signs were posted that a new mall was to open soon, but nothing was there except dirt piles. This area became the shopping plaza that now has DSW, Nordstrom Whole Foods etc.
