1. To renew an expired certificate, the individual must meet all applicable renewal requirements outlined above, including any remaining Special Georgia Requirements, and submit an application packet with appropriate documentation to the GaPSC. Specific renewal application procedures for educators may be found on the GaPSC web site at
Add A Field, Conversion, 5-Year Induction, 5-Year Induction Extension, Professional Renewal, Retired Educator certificate, Upgrade, Voluntary Deletion. Out-of-State and Service Field Educators Applying for Initial Georgia Certification.
Most certificate and license holders who are employed by a Georgia LUA in a position requiring certification at the time of renewal application must satisfy professional learning requirements. However, there are some exceptions as listed below: Educators who also hold valid National Board for Professional Teaching
(x) Educators employed at Georgia private schools may renew their certificates by completing the requirements outlined in Sections (e)1-4 above or by completing the requirements outlined in Section (g) below.
In order to renew your certificate, you must complete renewal requirements within 5 years of the date of the renewal application. Renewal requirement options include completing 6 semester hours from an accredited college/university.
