The cold water inlet is leaking at the tank or above it due to a fitting corroding or wearing down. The hot water outlet is leaking, and it’s due to corrosion or loose-fitting. The temperature and pressure relief valve is faulty, or the threat has come loose. The Anode rod needs to be replaced.

Turn Off the Heater and Water Supply: Turn off both the gas and water supply to the tank. Connect a Garden Hose: Attach a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the tank and place the other end in a bucket or outside drain. Drain the Tank: Open the valve and let the water and sediment drain until it runs clear.
