This expansion will require the recruitment of more than 6,000 soldiers. By then, the German Army is expected to have 289 self-propelled howitzers and 76 multiple rocket launchers.
7 Ιουν 2024 · According to the latest capability planning by the Bundeswehr, the German Army is expected to have a total of 13 artillery units at the corps, division, and brigade levels by 2035, as revealed by a response from the Ministry of Defense in early March 2024 to a parliamentary inquiry.
The artillery is a combat support branch of the German Army. Its artillery units support the combat forces with long-range artillery fire. The armoured self-propelled Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzer and MARS Mittleres Artillerieraketensystem II rocket launcher are their primary weapon systems.
