1 Ιουλ 2021 · Studies on children and adolescents (<18 years), male and female, with a diagnosis of FASD (fetal alcohol syndrome, partial fetal alcohol syndrome and alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder) were included.
Overall, children in the prenatal alcohol exposure group were more likely than children in the ADHD and control groups to be rated as having inadequate adaptive skills. When analyzed with matched IQs, the prenatal alcohol exposure and ADHD groups did not differ from each other.

Prenatal exposure to alcohol leads to numerous primary and secondary disabilities in affected children, which can result in poor long-term outcomes. The present paper reviews previous research on the neurobehavioural outcomes of children with FASD, particularly in terms of behavioural, mental health and adaptive outcomes.
