3 Ιουν 2014 · So to answer your question: Yes, Git can be used to manage versions of word documents etc., furthermore using gitattributes you can even diff word documents although I'm not sure if this is possible for xls files.

7 Ιουν 2015 · Has anyone come across a Git or Hg plugin for "meaningful" diffs/merging/branching of OpenOffice or Microsoft word files. I know I can 'checkin' .doc files but both Git and Hg treat them as binary blobs.
29 Απρ 2016 · The best I have found thus far is to download Writage (which requires Pandoc - all free), an add-on for Microsoft Word, that converts Word Documents into markdown, then upload the markdown to your host (e.g. github, bitbucket).

7 Μαΐ 2021 · Install pandoc. Pandoc is a program to convert between different file formats. It's going to allow us to convert Word files (.docx) to Markdown (.md). Set up git hooks to enable automatic generation and tracking of Markdown copies of .docx files.
Finally, if you don't want any of those options I'd also suggest using Markdown with VSCode and GIT. In that environment you'll get, for free, all the good options integrated inside VS Code and the ability to export to Word at a later time.
