The biggest reason, i think, was that the translation of the anime went out of its way to write goku as even more superman-like by making bardock a scientist like jor-el and giving goku that badass but inaccurate “hope of the universe” speech against frieza, among other things.
Only 3 ways superman get anywhere close to those teirs. Using cosmic armor, debunked atom scailing or that "story of superman" fan theory that is frankly lacking in any concrete evidence and is no different than trying to give any Shonen protagonist a "power of friendship" amp and claiming they are several layers into extraversal because of it.
