16 Φεβ 2021 · There are 5 story elements; characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution. When teaching kindergarten we have found it is better to use beginning, middle and ending of a story instead of plot. We also use problem and solution instead of conflict and resolution.
25 Σεπ 2021 · Choose books and stories to model the skill/strategy that you know are going to be easy for you to explain and easiest for your students to understand. Go for the low-hanging fruit on the tree! Don’t be afraid to use a book that would be considered “too easy” for your students.

Lesson 1: Great readers identify the characters in the story. Lesson 2: Great readers make mind movies as they read, to identify the story’s setting. Lesson 3: Great readers make mind movies as they read, to describe what is happening in the story. This is called the plot.
It always makes my teacher heart pitter patter when they want to hear a story for a second or third time. My goal by the end of the unit is to have students be able to use a story map to create their own story using the different story elements and sequencing it into beginning, middle, and end.
