Google says it was used in the song "Stranded in the Jungle" by The Cadets in 1956. However, a few years ago I listened to some old radio show re-broadcasts; stuff like The Great Gildersleeve, Fibber McGee and Molly, The Jack Benny Show, etc. and I swear I remember hearing it used in one of them.
In turn this might have developed from great googly moogly! an utterance of surprise which appeared on Frank Zappa's Don't Eat The Yellow Snow (1974) though has roots going back to Howling Wolf and possibly dates back to jazz/blues of the 50s.
