19 Ιαν 2020 · Great Pond Mountain, protected by the area land trust, offers fantastic views for a small mountain (1,009 feet) and a fairly easy, gradual hike with well-maintained trails. The summit is exposed, which makes for expansive vistas of three nearby mountain areas—Acadia, Camden’s hills, and even as far as Schoodic Mountain.
Trails are well-marked, maps available at trail heads, the office on Main st., Bucksport, and at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery (another great attraction on Alamoosook Lake.) Trail access at the hatchery, a marked parking lot on US Rte. 1 between Ellsworth and Orland.
