The Bird’s Nest Drawing (BND) The BND (Kaiser, 1996) is a process-based, constructive assessment designed to assess attachment security. Participants are provided with a standardised set of drawing materials and, in a 15-minute period, asked to ‘draw a picture of a bird’s nest’ (Kaiser, 2012b, p. 4).
This paper briefly reviews attachment theory, delineates the significant findings from five of the studies, and provides information from four others. Implications for clinical use of the Bird’s Nest Drawing and need for future research are discussed.
